1. During a quiet moment in the forests of Sulawesi, I found this Sulawesi Dwarf Kingfisher perched calmly on a slender branch. Its vivid colours stood out beautifully against the surrounding greenery, while the bird remained still and watchful.
Moments like this are what make wildlife photography so rewarding. There is a certain beauty in simply waiting, observing and allowing the subject to reveal itself naturally. This encounter was captured during my wildlife journey through Sulawesi, Indonesia, in June 2026.
The photograph also serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting Sulawesi’s forests, where unique wildlife continues to find refuge. Documenting these quiet encounters can help us appreciate the biodiversity that these habitats support and why conserving them matters.

For me, moments like this are a reminder of what these forests hold. Protecting these habitats means protecting the remarkable species that depend on them, many of which make Sulawesi their home.
